Since one of the things that makes trauma so traumatic is being alone in it, we need people who are willing to come alongside and walk a ways with us while we unpack things that keep us stuck. Someone who is willing to sit with us in our muck, wipe our tears, and hold the sacred space where we grieve, express rage, explore secret thoughts, and ultimately stand in our present power.
Thoughts that inform my life’s journey

& Practice

The journey’s in the journey.
Don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good.
Seek justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly.
We should all stop shoulding on ourselves.
The feel of fresh air.
The sound of the wind through pine trees.
The smell of a campfire.

about

Somatic Experiencing

“The Somatic Experiencing® method is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, together with over 45 years of successful clinical application.” — Somatic Experiencing (SE) website
SE utilizes the language of body sensation to help people release traumatic energy that has been stored as a result of traumatic shock, developmental trauma, and/or repetitive trauma. By helping clients explore their patterned responses and situations where they may be “stuck” in fight/flight/or freeze, SE gently helps people discover ways to renegotiate traumatic experiences utilizing their bodies’ resources, sensations, and healing momentum. To read more about how SE works, check out peer-reviewed research, or learn more about the mind-body connection, please feel free to peruse Somatic Experiencing’s website at: traumahealing.org

“Having the opportunity to work with Meghan has completely changed my life. It took me 4 tries to finally find someone that I trusted & felt comfortable with to help me with my trauma. Meghan uses a unique combination of techniques to help you recognize how your mind & body work which allows you to heal fully. The relaxation methods that I learned from Meghan have been some of the only things that calm my anxiety & her gentle, welcoming personality allowed me to open up to her in every way that I needed to. I'm beyond grateful to have found someone like Meghan & I know that she will continue to be successful in her future work.”

“Meghan was awesome to work with. She listened carefully and was never judgmental of what I had to say. I felt like she cared about what I was dealing with and came up with effective methods to help my anxiety. She was always nice and friendly, and I looked forward to meeting with her.”

"Meghan's skill as a therapist may be surpassed only by her dedication to the profession and to the clients she serves. Her kind presence inspires trust, confidence, and hope in addressing challenges and allowing space for the full range of human emotion and experience."
